We help coordinate DDP and DAP arrangements subject to route and cargo approval. The term and exact named destination should be in the agreement and quote.
What to agree before starting
Under Incoterms® 2020, DDP puts import clearance and import duties on the seller. Under DAP, the buyer handles import clearance and duties. In both, unloading is generally the buyer’s responsibility. Check who is permitted to act as importer.
Cost & confirmation
Do not assume everything is included from the service name. Specify taxes, clearance, delivery, unloading and extras. This explanation is not legal or tax advice.
DDP and DAP: responsibilities at a glance
Confirm who the seller, buyer and importer are for your shipment. The named destination and our logistics work need to be recorded in the agreement.
| Responsibility | DDP | DAP |
|---|---|---|
| Import clearance | Seller | Buyer |
| Import duties and taxes | Seller | Buyer |
| Unloading at the named destination | Generally the buyer | Generally the buyer |
Confirm these details in writing
- The exact named destination and what final delivery covers.
- Who is permitted to fulfil the import obligations and which documents are needed.
- Any unloading, destination handling or additional charges in the quotation.
- Cargo insurance, its coverage and who arranges it. Confirm cover separately from the DDP or DAP service label.
Communication that prevents misunderstandings
Describe the intended product use and what matters to you. We confirm specifications and instructions together in writing, distinguishing agreed work from items still awaiting approval.
